they look like the  chevron techron gas station cars...only bigger, and brighter.

You got that right! the FJ is totally boss. the dudes who designes it took a stock one to the rubicon and made it out without so much as a tow! thats saying something.  

Can anyone tell me how to put coils over my shocks on my 1991 toyota pickup. I was wondering if I am going to need new lower and upper arms?  

if u want to go long travel or something really hardcore u have to get new uppers and lowers in able to run a coilover....u should just replace ur old shocks/struts with some replacement bilsteins  

I feel like the FJ Cruiser is the modern day equivalent of what the 4Runner was in the late eighties and early nineties. Not the bloated grocery getter we see before us today. (I mean the current 4runner, but the notion of excess bloat could apply to the new FJ as well. ) The old 4Runner was great for off-roading, durable and definitely a truck. A truck that made you want to follow a trail that you have never been down and sleep under the stars. Not something that makes you want to go down to Ralph's (an LA supermarket for the red state residents out there..), grocery list in hand.  

I'm afraid "bloat" is here to stay, in one form or another. The FJ is a tad on the porky side, but not the worst offender. Yeah, I can appreciate the "back to basics" approach Toyota took with it. Kind of like Nissan with the Xterra is a lot closer to the original Pathfinder than the new model. Overall, a pretty good effort by Toyota, I'd say.
