What's on your off-roading checklist before you leave home? Gear? Tools? Things to inspect? What's your worst "Oops" story of something you forgot to do or bring?

gear wise- make sure you wash your riding socks-those things are rank if you dont. and as long as you got some duct tape- you can fix anything!

ah dang, you had to bring up the worst oops!...
it all started on a day when the 15fwy was backed up hardcore for miles all the way over the cajon pass and i wanted to go pick up my season pass at mthigh..
so i figured i would take the back way.. using the dirt roads instead of the fwy.. after about 30 min i found myself with left-rear tire fallen in a 3ft+ rut. i stepped/fell out of my vehicle when i opened the door to get out.
i had nothing with me but a cell phone and a ham radio.. but i ended up calling a buddy for a ride home and i returned later that afternoon with 4 other people and we got it out and went home never making it to the ski resort for my season pass. it sucked.. but i do wish i had pictures.. cause i laugh about it now...
oh and no there wasn't any snow yet. i'm not that dumb.

Yeah, smelly socks are no fun. Do you pack an extra dry pair?

My rig has- -a full-size matching spare -tire iron -2 high-lift jacks -valve stem puller -7 gallon portable air tank (filled by $10 coleman 12v tire pump lol) -spare driveline flange bolts (zukis have a flange to flange like toyotas so I run bolts just strong enough to shear off before my u-joints go. I reccomend this because it takes you 3 minutes to put new bolts in versus 15 for a whole u-joint) -full under-body lighting -a spotter who knows what is up -duct tape rocks -two jerry cans one drink water and one gas -a good tool kit with vehicle specific tools such as a spindle nut socket for my birfs -tip: if you take cotton balls and kind of coat the outside of them with vaseline they make lighting a camp fire much easier. I store them in old medication bottles and they will never dry out and they work wet! -camping stuff, clothes, food, first aid kit... -I'll shut up now lol

I'd list mine out but I don't have all day... lol... I'll try to find time to list out everything that I do to prep my truck and the supplies that go along with it on each trip...
