Do you think Jeep is abandoning its base with the Compass and Patriot? Are they barking up the wrong tree by trying to go after the "urban" market? Do you think these models will ultimately compromise the rest of the lineup?

I think the product planners at Jeep are smokin' crack. The Compass is just a weird oddball. It totally doesn't fit with their image. Patriot is not quite as bad, but still kind of sissy. They need to focus on their core strength: Rugged, capable off-road vehicles.

Badge engineering at its worst.  Just put a Jeep badge on a Dodge Caravan and be done with it.

Hopefully the new management at Chrysler will do some "cleanup" of the Jeep lineup and kill off those puny weaklings.

In my opinion people don't buy jeeps to drive the kids to soccer... unless its over the mountain and through the f'in woods. Their supposed to be TRAIL RATED hahaha so much for that. My mom just bought a new JK, i mean its fun to drive and all but i wouldn't trust it for a second offroad. Jeeps becoming to commercialized. It's stupid to make a car originally built for offroad with street built performance.

I've always said the Compass is the answer to a question nobody asked.  It should be removed from the Jeep line.  The Patriot, though, is a different story.  While it's the same platform as the Compass, it looks more like a Jeep and allows entry-level buyers to get an economical 4x4 they can take off-road.  It's great to see new people enjoying our sport.  The Patriot gives people who would have never thought about it before a chance to experience the dirt like all of us do.

Don't discount the JK.  I've been driving off-road for 40 years and the JK is the best stock off-roader I've ever driven.  Modified, it's a world-beater.

Jeep is obviously just trying to reach a new target market which is understandable however they are tampering with its image and what jeep has become a way of life. It is typically known to be an off road beast and what jeep has been turning this way of life into a joke for me whenever I see a compass or patriot I cant do anything but feel ashamed of this company that I am a part of. Another thing that really pisses me off it the new 4 door wrangler that in my eyes is just as bad as the compass and patriot which are appalling on its own.
