Yo i need some help here. i've got a 99 chevy suburban that im trying to swap to solid axle. So far ive got a front axle of an 85 k-5 blazer 10 bolt with leaf springs...my problem is the steering...not worried about transfer case will swap out to possibly an np208..but i have been told to run a power rack and pinion off an 91 ford mustang cobra with the low ratio to turn the larger tires how would i make brackets for the steering system and run an extra length of steering column... i know its used on mud racers and i have seen it before on another full size IFS converted chevy with the same front axle i have. what are my options? better ideas will help me out as well.... the leaf springs and brackets of the old blazer are still intact the lift on it was about 3 inch blocks underneath the springs blazer was running 35's how much would it lift my suburban after the swap? the rear im running is a dana 60 off a ford f250 with 4.10's i got tired of breaking the stupid 10 bolt 4 times....now my front end gave out and i wanna go all balls out and solid axle my suburban. Give me some ideas folks.

You arn't talking about putting lift blocks in the front are you? Because don't! That is very very dangerous! and illegal!
Anyway, Rack and Pinion on a solid axle? Can't say I have ever seen that before. What kind of steering did the donor vehicle use? I would pull the box out of it and use the stock type steering.
