What ever happened to Ford ditching the Bronco? You'd think with all the lastest craze being retro (like the FJ cruizer) that Ford would answer the call and bring back the Bronco. The way it used to be! Ahead of it's time back in the day with coil spring front suspension and leaves in the rear. Heck I've seen TJ owners put in XJ springs in the rear of Jeep to get wheel base and be more stable on the trail. Isn't it odd how the Jeep crowd tries to get the old Bronco wheel base and suspension set up when all they have to do is get an old Bronco? Ford marketers have missed a big void in the off roading community. Now is the time for blue oval nuts to stand up and say "I want my Bronco back". Give it that same "take the doors off and the top down feeling of yester-year". And don't forget to put in a V-8 and a solid front axle. I'm a Jeep guy myself, but if ford ups the antey to Jeep and can produce one like I just desribed, I might be heading down to the local Ford dealer to take the "Bronco Challenge". What do you think?
If you don't want it BROKE, DON'T let me drive it.

I completely agree. I think a revived Bronco would be awesome. I think they'd sell a ton of 'em, too. I don't know if I'd base it off the F-150, though. That truck has gotten a little too porky & bulky for my tastes. I'd actually probably base it off the Asian-market Ranger, with a few modifications to maybe accept an optional V-8. I'd also offer a turbodiesel option too. Great mileage and great torque would be a popular combination. Jeep has done great with the 4-door JK Wrangler. How well do you think a 4-door Bronco would go over? Or should Ford go the FJ route and just do some mini suicide flip-out doors on it?

I think Ford has done rather well in the retro catigory. Look at the GT-40 and the NEW 69 (opps) 2006 to present Mustang. They really went old school and pulled off one heck of a tech flip with them. full size bronco's aren't really cool (even Bronco nuts agree) The Bronco II was a Joke, (Just like the Mustang II was, you'd think they'd learn from "II" thing) Jeep didn't have 4 drs till now and look at the following they had with out the extra 2 drs. The FJ-40's itty-bitty swing outs are neat but if Ford wants to knock'm dead in their tracks I think going old school with the Bronco styling would work for them. V-6 or V-8 options from the stang would be good with the rest of the drive train from the F-150. Performance, Durability and looks will sell. Buyers want to be COOL and they will pay through the nose to do so. I can hear the aftermarket buzzing just dreaming about the NEW Bronco release. Some body pinch me!!

I agree with esanchez, the new F-150 has gotten a little big. I think something a little closer in size to the original 60s Bronco would be better. But definitely some beefy components. That Asian Ranger seems like a pretty sweet truck. Too bad we're still stuck with the stale leftover model here. Mulally needs to show some balls and approve some "Bold" new designs. A revived Bronco would be sweet.
