A Jeep is always a good start.  Lots of aftermarket parts availiable for it

The new Toyota FJ is also an option

Thanks, for the suggestions.. but What's about safety?  someone told me that Jeeps require a lot of knowledge and understanding of their limitations.

are u gonna be doing hardcore offroading? or just mild weekend fun?

As long as u have ur seatbelt on and dont try and climb gnarly rocks or hills, u should be fine

when doing some of the more extreme stuff it's always a good idea for you to have the knowledge... and you should always know your limits... but a jeep is a really good starter... I.E.  it already has a roll bar... depending on model... and they're easily and cheaply modified/upgraded...

Thanks gotmike and longtravelyota for the suggestions you have given me... I wish to go for easy trails with my two kids . Any websites I should check out?

Websites for trails? Might help to tell us where you are at..

And I agree, Jeeps are good for what you want to do.

Good to see you response.. as I was asking for information on many forums about 4x4 vehicles and now I think it is good to go for Jeep Cherokee 4.0
I wish 2008 will be a GREAT year for you and your dear ones.
Thanks so much again for the advice.
