I want to build a long travel suspension truck, I have a 94 Mazda B4000 extended cab which I could use; however it looked like modifying a twin I beam 4X would be considerably more expensive than an A arm style front suspension. I also wonder about the handeling of the I beam setup. Would I be better off selling it and getting an older Toyota 4X to build. I want some serious travel 18 to 20 inches. Whatever I build it may morph into a race truck (class 7) or a chase truck I have a 5 year plan to run the Baja1000 (just the sportsman class).

If you want that much travel you will need some serious work with a-arms. It's totally possible, and infact pretty easy with beams. If your truck has beam, I would stick with it.
