I HAVE 98 Z71 5.7 I HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP 3 TIMES AND EACH REPLACEMENT PUMP AFTER ABOUT A MONTH WONT START WHEN IT GETS HOT. WHEN ITS COLD THE FUEL PUMP SOUNDS NORMAL AND HAS GOOD PRESSURE BUT AFTER WARM UP IT SOUNDS LIKE ITS UNDER A HUGE LOAD AND WILL NOT START AND ALSO HAS NO FUEL PRESSURE. I  HAVE INSTALLED NAPA PUMPS

Did you change out the fuel filter?

Yes, twice. I wish it was that simple.

How about the sock like thing on the other end of the fuel pump?

It really sounds like a clog somewhere. Seems like something is restricting flow to the pump causing the pump to work harder and thus pushing it into thermal shutdown/protection and eventually killing it.

I have replaced the the screen on the pump and the filter. I just put an AC Delco pump on yesterday and I'll see if it works out. I have read that there are many people out there with this motor that have had the same problems and after they replaced the pump with the oem it fixed it. Supposedly the CFI pulls a lot of current and has a tendency to melt some wires, causing a short on the cheaper pumps.

Good luck with the Delco, keep us posted on how it works!
