A story out today on the Bloomberg news service says gas may be going to $4 a gallon. How will this affect you? Will it have any bearing on your driving or vehicle buying habits? What are you doing to get better mileage, if anything?

Does not affect me at all really. Being into this sport of off-roading you already know that it isn't cheap, in all reality it is expensive. So gas going up a dollar a gallon is not a big deal, at least to me. Sure I may make one less big trip this year because of it, but with the same budgeting that I have always done I'll still get my truck where I want to go.
Now the commute to work... that is a differant sotry. lol

So you might consider getting something more economical as a commuter, and save your truck for the weekends? How many other people feel the same way?

I would have to say no. Having a desert toy, or dirt toy of any kind makes it hard to have a true "commuter" car for one simple reason, if your not driving it everyday, it should be on a trailer. I say that because if you don't have to rely on it you are more prone to pushing its limits which ultimately ends in breaking the weak link, which could leave you stranded with out a trailer.
Consider this, with two vehicles paying the registration and insurance on a truck you don't drive everyday in return for a car you are losing the money saved.
So for me personally, when this is off the road I will be looking for a new truck. With the fuel mileage that my truck gets everyday anyway being what it is already a new fullsize truck will get the same or better. So not paying registration or full insurance on a second truck and getting one that gets better fuel mileage makes the most sense.

Our fuel prices in Canada are up to $1.27/litre. That is well above $4/gallon if my math is correct. I personally run a foresty business that requires me to use 30-100 litres a day depending on where I am working. My job allows me through necessity to wheel every day but the fuel cost is killing any profit I make. I have built a Samurai to try and offset the fuel costs and have found that I no longer need a quad to get further than my full size F-150 can get me. It may take me longer to get there on the highway but I can cruise right down the trails that usually require a quad. Without this vehicle I would not be in business very long.

I have a truck and a nice commuter car since my truck is a 66 the insurance is cheap (along with most insurance companies give a multi car discount) and tags are cheap. I also don't do high performance mods to any of my vehicles only mods that improve the efficency

the high gas prices mean less money for stuff i would rather spend it on, like off road parts, vacations, and just saving money for the future

Gas prices just plain suck all over. I think it should be illegal to raise the price gas at every wim of the oil industry. If a farmer has to change the tires on his combine does he tell the co-op to pay him more for his corn so he can keep his profit where he wants it? *** NO. How is it that they get to control the price form day to day when no other business I know gets to that with out being introuble with the Law? Get active, call your congressman and chew his ass out for allowing the American public to be held "over a barrel" by these money hungry schmucks. Just my 2 cents.
If you don't want it BROKE, DON'T let me drive it.

With crude oil going to $83/barrel there is no doubt fuel prices are going up. I am fighting back with a new set of products that raise fuel mileage in 80% of vehicles from 10-20%. At $3.00/gallon that is a 15 to 45 cent/gallon savings. I'm saving 40 cents/gallon. The best part, though, is the improved performance and longevity the metal conditioner gives to the engine and tranny. Check it out: www.motorlatte.com/lifeworks.

Gas Sucks! I wish they hurried up and found a new type of fuel to use! Because this is getting rediculous! If gas prices rise to $4 there should be a strike or something! BS BUSH!
