My brother has a 99 Ranger with auto locking front hubs, the problem is they don't engage when the switch is turned. The transfer engages but the hubs don't. Does any one have any suggestion as to what the problem might be?

Yea, it's a very common problem for the PVH's on the 98-00 1/2 to fail. There is a very simple fix, remove the hub, remove the white locking mechanism, remove the metal clip from the middle of it, put the locking mechanism back in and reinstall. Now the hubs are locked all the time.

Or better yet, run a set of AVM manual locking hubs, that is what I use on my truck.
