i want to make my 88 4x4 ranger into a prerunner and i was just wondering what kind of suspension i should be running im on a kinda tight budget and im trying to save all the money i can i have a friend who can cut and extend my beams but i dont know if thats a good idea because i  dont know if it will take alot of abuse does anybody know some decent priced companys with extended 4x4 beams that can take some abuse? and for the rear i was thinking about running some deavers with some smooth bodys is that a decent setup that will work good for me??
thanks for the help

Well first you have to decide if you want to keep your 4x4 as that will limit your front wheel travel to about 10 to 14 inchs depending how wide your I beams are... Before you cut your beams call Camburg or Perry McNeal for extended beams,Your Ranger has a Dana28 in the front very weak... I know I have the same front end but only use 4x4 in emergency only .. never fulltime.. You might want to convert to a 2 wheel drive  then you can get alot more travel in front up to 24 inches H&M make some really nice product. Whatever you do .. Don't hack apart your suspension it will be a huge mistake if you do.. Has your friend ever extented beams before??? Don't be his first don't cut corners on your build... TAKE YOUR TIME DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME, it will save you alot of money in the long run. Building a decent pre-runner does not come cheap, Shocks, leafs, body work, all cost $$$ that is why it sometimes takes several years to build them... WE ARE ALL ON BUDGETS with BILLS to pay... Deavers will work ... think of a shackle flip... Check out my Ranger, if I can help with any other Q's feel free to call me 951-805-4515... Rich owner/fabricator.. Also check out Race Dezert.. Pirate 4x4 and other sites for parts. lots of deals..K I have a set of KINGS 10inch stroke 2.5 smooth body with remotes for cheap.. we were able to net 14 inches of rear travel with them. I know how it is to be on a budget. It took several years to finish my Ranger, with alot of changes along the way..

Listen to Rich, good advice there.

If it were me though, I would keep the 4x4 and get a nice set of extended TTB's. But that's me.
