Laughlin US Hare Scrambles
MARCH 6, 7, 2009 – (Race in Laughlin, NV) "THE MOST TECHNICAL MOTORCYCLE DESERT RACE IN THE U.S." MOTORCYCLE POINTS ONLY - NO PRE-FUN RUN
The Laughlin United States Hare Scrambles Championship has proven year after year to be a real favorite of everyone; the riders, support crews, their families, their friends, and the BEST IN THE DESERT staff. Well, I have to say we have had some good Laughlin events, and we have had some great Laughlin events, but the 2008 event was the Best Of The Best. I think anyone who was there will tell you it was an awesome event! Now I will explain the point I’m trying to make! The 2009 Laughlin event will be even better!
Because the world we live in is continually changing and improving, we in the BEST IN THE DESERT must also be ready to make the changes and improvements for making our off-road races safer, better, and more fun for everyone. In 2008 we had made some major changes in the Laughlin event, these changes will prove to be very positive. I feel the 2009 Laughlin event will live up to its slogan of “The Best Just Keeps Getting Better”! Okay, now a few highlights of the awesome 2009 Laughlin event.
#1 I am happy to say the name of the Laughlin event will remain the same tight & technical course everyone has come to love & hate, the great Laughlin U.S. Hare Scrambles Championship Team Race.
#2 Host Hotel: River Palms. We are very excited about our Host Hotel in Laughlin, the awesome River Palms. The River Palms is excited about sponsoring the Laughlin event! So I ask you now, “Please stay at the River Palms”!!! As always we should support the hotel that supports our sport. You need to CALL NOW for your hotel reservations at the River Palms (800) 835-7903 (group code BITD9). Be sure to tell them you are attending the BEST IN THE DESERT Laughlin Race to receive our group’s room rate discount.
#3 The 2009 race will once again have one central pit with two new separate loops on each side of the pit area. Now, for those of you who are wondering “Will the new 2009 course be tight and technical?”, the answer is Yes! Yes! Yes! TIGHT and TECHNICAL! Get ready for another Best Of The Best!
#4 The BLM has an entry limit of 200 entries in Laughlin. For the ’08 Laughlin event, BEST IN THE DESERT did not have to turn away any entries, so by keeping Laughlin a team race, we can let everyone ride.
#5 All of the other SILVER STATE SERIES events are team events. Having Laughlin as a team race fits in better with the series.
#6 The 2009 Laughlin event will be two (2) separate approximately 18-20 mile loops, three (3) times around each loop, for a total of approximately 120 miles. As a team race, each rider will have approximately a one (1) hour rest period between rides.
#7 Because everyone does not wants to ride on a team there will be an Ironman class in the Sportsman division only (No Pro’s) – the Ironman Class is one person only riding. The Ironman class will ride approximately 100 miles only. Also, they pay a lower entry fee. (See the Laughlin Entry Form).
#8 The BLM allows only one (1) BLM use permit a year for Laughlin and we’ve got it! The Laughlin US Hare Scrambles is the event, don’t miss out!!! Come see how tough you are!!!
#9 The Laughlin Race is for Motorcycles Only, but we get back together again with the Quads, UTV’s and Motorcycles for the very exciting BlueWater Gran Prix in Parker, AZ, May 8, 9, 10, 2009.
#10 The Draw Date for Start Positions is Wednesday, February 25, 2009, so get your entries in today!
Life’s too short! Come to Laughlin and have some fun! You will not be sorry!!! The terrain is some of the most beautiful you can imagine. The views are absolutely spectacular. Just think of riding your off-road motorcycle in a desert race while looking down at the mighty Colorado River … What a feeling!!! Your family and friends will have a great time at the Laughlin race. Actually, the race is a good spectator event, and one your family and pit crew will enjoy watching. The River Palms is the race headquarters. What a great place to stay! Beautiful rooms, good food, and a super party lounge and dance floor. Get your entries in now!!! Also, make your hotel reservations now!!! River Palms, (800) 835-7903. Tell them you’re attending the BEST IN THE DESERT RACE to get your room rate discount.
Sincerely, Casey Folks, Director
