Now to start of this conversation, no this forum isn't to find out which truck is better. I do however wish to find out which truck would be your choice to upgrade and make it into an Off Road monster. Now everyone knows that tires, wheels, suspension, shocks, etc. are all needed to push these truck to the limits. I got this idea by reading a blog at one of my favorite sites.

The 2009 Ford F-150 has been redesigned and been recognized as the best selling truck in America for quite a few years already. In fact the 2009 F-150 has won Motor Trends 2009 Truck of the Year and has also been recognized as a 5 Star Safety rating by the NHTSA. The performance factor is major with the consumer and the F-150 has delivered both power and performance without fail. Recently it has also been revognized as getting 21mpg, making it the most fuel efficient truck in America. (links below for more info)

Now the 2009 Dodge Ram has also been redesigned. The HEMI engine is not one to be messed with and has also gotten much attention. Recently it has received the 2009 Truck of The Year by Trucking Magazine, which is a major boost in confidence for Chrysler as it goes through all its problems. At the same time the Dodge Ram has also been recognized as the Best New 2009 Truck Award from Canada. Performance, Power, and Quality has improved dramatically on the Ram and Dodge couldn't be happier with the results.

So between these two truck giants, which would you prefer to own and turn it into your next Off Road Star??

Ford. It comes with a rear locker from the factory, that's one less thing to upgrade.

Though the 390hp Hemi sure would be nice to have off road...

I don't know...though the F-150 is the best selling truck in America the Dodge Ram sure looks nice. I would probably still stick with the F-150 because I hear Ford really stepped it up in quality but the Dodge Ram probably doesn't stay that far behind.

The '09 Dodge Ram 1500 is a step in the right direction for sure. The interior is beautiful, the power is amazing, and the ride is great thanks to the rear coils.

But... it comes with a limited slip, no locker, no integrated trailer brakes, less towing capacity, and less pay load capacity. It's got Nav but with the Ford you can get Sync, which is way cool!

So yea... I'm still saying Ford for now.

Yea the interior is awesome. I saw the Dodge Ram at the L.A. Auto Show last year and I have to say that there is more luxury in there than on any coupe or sedan Dodge has to offer. Although the F-150 doesn't stay behind. And your right about SYNC....which will definitely help when your off roading and can't have your hands free driving through rocks and what not.

Like the Dodge Ram billboards say, "It swallowed a luxury car."
