Now im just young lad who's grown up with 4x4in and mudding flowing through my veins...I figure nows the perfect time to start looking at a bit of a different path that just looks like it suits me to a Tee.  Trophy Trucks and the Baja 1000...
I've been watching these races for the past couple years and I'm super interested in them and want to start building my own truck, does anyone have any tips and advice on how to possibly get started in the right path with building my own truck and some advice on how to design my truck because i'm totally clueless and can't seem to find any information anywhere on building one.

Thanks alot
Nate

Buy one.

It doesn't sound like you have much knowledge on the subject and to build a Trophy Truck is going to take a lot of expertise in suspension design and geometry, fabrication, electrical and hydraulic systems, engines, and vehicle design. And *** ton of money.

If you have an extra $250k burning a hole in your pocket I know where you can get a great truck!

What's your budget?

I would suggest looking into a bolt on Silverado LT Kit. You can get a nice kit from Camburg, Blitzkriek, and Mazzula, just to name a few. Then bolt on some Deaver springs in the rear with a quality 2.5" shock, bypass if you can afford it, then go from there.

Where do you live? Knowing that will help us give advice to how far you need to go with it.

Well my budget is however much the bank gives me which will be pretty much as much as i need...currently im lookin for a truck first to do the conversions in...

I live in yorkton, saskatchewan, canada...i went down once to watch some of the excitement of the baja 1000 and well i've been hooked on the idea of desert racing, i know it'll probably be tough to do any practice drivin in canada lol but whatever im ready and willin to do this cuz its somethin i've never done before...

but ya i've looked into some of the bolt on kits and looks relatively to the point of what i can do...i love jumpin stuff so these just look like what i need!

Hey a fellow Canadian!Thats rare.
Anyways before you get your heart set on a trophy truck....keep a few things in mind.
-Do you have thousands of hours to commit to the build?
-Do you have a huge budget?
-Do you have a build team that will help?
-Have you considered buying a used race vehicle? Check race-dezert.com
-Do you have the fabrication skills necesarry to do the build.
I don't want to sound discouraging here, but you have to realize the huge undertaking your getting yourself into. If you can't fabricate parts for the truck, your costs will skyrocket.
Also think about some of the stock classes as there's alot less you can modify because of restrictions. Keeps the cost and time down.
We're doing a class 7 build right now and thats a tonne of work as it is.
Good luck

I know ur not trying to sound discouraging your being honest and thats much appreciated my friend.  I'm not looking to build a trophy truck any more as i stated above...just a prerunner...my welding skills are quite addocate (or however u spell that), i'm not trying to build this thing in like 2 months this is gonna be a pretty long project.
I do have friends that are more than willing to start on this build with me... I have looked at used race vehicles, and have considered it but i need a pass time lol and it looks really fun doin somethin like this, whether i can drive it around town legally or illegally lol!

But ya fabricating parts is something im regularily used to due to the fact i fix aircraft for a living and i do it quite regularily sir...

But u don't understand how much i respect your honesty, keep in touch man where you from anyways in canada?
