So a little about me Im a Junior in high school and I want to build a prerunner thats about it lol. Any ways I really want to build a Ranger prerunner or what I call a prerunner, sense I have no job(I have an interview next week for a movie theater) I will not have much money so this will come together really slowly plus I dont even have a Ranger yet after about 1 pay check I will have enough for a used 4wd. So due to low funds my "prerunner" Is basically gonna be a ranger with those really flared fenders, tires, long travel suspension kit, bumper, and a few performance things like air filter, exhaust and headers. This is no way a full blown race rig. This is a little over whelming and im not really sure were to start. So I got some questions.
1. What year Ranger would be best keep in mind I dont have much money?
2. What are some good brands?
3. How do I install them do I buy them and than go to a shop and ask them to install it or do I just go to like an auto body shop and tell them what I want or do I have to buy them and install them all on my own? Sorry for the stupid qustion im new at this

You want a 4wd?
'98-00 would be good for you. They are getting pretty cheap now.
If you get a '98 or newer 4wd then pay a visit to Dixon Brothers Racing at www.dixonbrosracing.com for your suspension needs.
Deaver springs for the rear, but Dixon can set you up with those.
Depends on what you buy where you have it installed.
Take it one step at a time, we're here to help, all you have to do is ask!

In my opinion, spend on what your gonna need, not want. This sport gets VERY expensive, very quick. the I-Beam rangers would be easier and cheaper to build ('84-'96). ON the cheaper route, for the front end, keep the coilbucket, stock front beams and run a 2.5'Racerunner shock. 33' tires work well with this setup. As for the rear, -some deaver springs and simple bedcage. If you wanna spend some money later on, you can do full longtravel system: cut&turned beams, widened, coilovers, bypass, bumpms, etc. If you do end up doing the suspension, don't go mobbing around without a rollcage! Sure, its an expensive thing to do, but what's worth more, you're life or cool status? For the fiberglass, there's many companies out there: Fiberwerx, Glassworks, Hanneman, McNeil, Trailer products. It might be beneficial to you to join dezertrangers.com Lots of info on prerunner trucks. Good luck.
