I have an 1987 4runner, currently the previos owner swapped the motor out for a 3.0 toyota motor. This mootr runs like crap. Any ideas of what dirrection I should go? Maybe back to the original? Or swap out to another engine? Or just replace it with the same 3.0? Just looking for any input, that could be helpful. I saw an article in here about a swap to a 3.4 toyota motor, any ideas?

I would go 3.4 for sure. Killer engine. Or if you can find one a 4.0 would be fun too.
