The SEMA Show is upon us and the F-150 Raptor stole the spotlight last year and left Chevy in the dark. This year Chevy wanted a piece of Raptor and decided to take the Silverado into an off road level.

The F-150 Raptor recently received the new 6.2-liter V8 engine that pumps out 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque. At the same time the Raptor went into a new special edition segment with another Raptor dubbed the FR Raptor XT. The XT will be limited to a run of 50 units and is an extreme truck; it's not street legal and will sticker at $99,950. So you can see the Ford is pushing for the spotlight once again.

Not to be outdone GM decided to bring a concept to the SEMA Show with the Chevy Silverado ZR2. The ZR2 has a supercharged 6.2L LSA V-8 under the hood creating a whopping 550hp. Thanks to the cavernous space below the Silverado's hood, the LSA and its six-speed automatic transmission dropped right in with little effort and Chevrolet easily fitted a custom stainless steel exhaust system. Being that it's only a concept no price is obviously given.

So which would you take....the Raptor or ZR2???

Apples and Oranges. They don't even begin to compare.

Raptor is a production truck. You can buy it right now. The ZR2 is not.
Raptor is a purpose built off-road truck. The ZR2 has pretty wheels.

See where I'm going with this? Take a 2010 F150 FX4, put a 6.2 with a supercharger in it, and a nice lift kit, and only then can you compare the two trucks.

That silly Chevy's still got nothing on the Raptor.

Well it might be apples and oranges to my friend but the purpose of the truck was to compete with the Raptor. Yes it is a concept truck and no where did I state it wasn't. At the same time Chevy is trying to catch up to Ford in this particular segment so give them some slack.

If Chevy said it was to compete with the Raptor then they FAILED BIG. The suspension on that truck is no where near the level of the Raptor. The ZR2 would fall apart if it tried to do what the Raptor can do.

Raptor - 2.5" Triple Bypass Off-Road Race Shocks
ZR2 - No

Raptor - 12+" of wheel travel.
ZR2 - No.

Raptor - Off-Road Mode (electronics)
ZR2 - No

Like I said, if they think this truck is a competitor for the Raptor they are WAY off base. I can't wait to laugh in their face at SEMA tomorrow.
