axles and transmissions???

I have an 84 GMC High Sierra, it currantly has gm 10 bolt axles and a th350 tranny. I'm curious to hear some input as to what axles i should upgrade to or if i should at all. Same with the transmission. I plan on putting a 8" to 12" suspension lift on the truck, and of course larger tires. Thanks for any input guys/gals.
