Hey guys sorry to bug ya about something so small.
I picked up a used chicago electric 110 flux welder on craigslist for next to nothing. Id never welded before, but for 20 bucks i could say no. it uses .030 flux. Ive sketched out some cool designs for winch a bumper, but here is my dilemma. I don't know it my little welder will make strong enough welds for that application. Id be super pissy if I went to winch myself out and it ripped my welds apart. any ideas?

I wouldn't.

Chicago Electric is crap.

Don't use Flux on anything that matters, IE winch.

Save some money and get a nice Miller/Lincon/Hobart machine and a gas bottle.

well thats a super boo hiss. would it be strong enough to make a regular bumper? My state (illinois) has its ride height specified by bumper height, so I need to make some taller bumpers to compensate.

Ive got a 90 gmc k1500 for fun, and a little 98 s10 for daily use. Yeah Illinois, right on the Wisconsin line. We might not have much in the way of sand, but what we do have is snow, and that makes everything fun. For those of you that have never taken your off road toy in the snow, I super recomend it. Heres my little truck burried in a 13 after a storm dumped 13 inches overnight.

cool! (literally!)
Anything done to the S10?
Yeah, we don't get too much snow in Southern California... I'll add snow play with the toys to my list.

Update. DONE!
Just wanted to let you guys know this project is now done. I picked up this bad boy on craigslist.

It was built for a 73 to 87, so I had to build some adapting brackets. The thing is solid as a rock, and I cant wait to use it.
