I read an article in an old issue of 4x4 Garage ("Welcome to Flow Town Nov'09). In this article a stock Hemi powered (TBI 5.7L) Durango that was normally getting 13-14 mpg went up to 19-20 mpg, (23 mpg on long Freeway trips if they kept their foot out of the throttle),with the use of an Airaid Quick Fit filter assembly. I have a stock '96 Silverado K1500 TBI 5.7L that gets 12 mpg city and 16 mpg highway. My question is; Would I get similar gains with the same type of system? I know all vehicals are different, but I was hoping someone out there had experiance with this.?.
My full plan was to install a Throttle Body spacer, Cold Air Intake, a Duel Exhaust, and use a Programmer to try and squeeze 16 mpg city out of my truck. Since I am really no expert with these type of mods. and what I would and wouldn't gain, I was hoping there are some gurus out there that can lead me in the right direction!! Any advice would be great. Thanks, Mike
